Here is the post where I share that I am getting serious about incorporating essential oils into my family’s healing regimen. This time, it’s for real.
I’ve been using essential oils for a long time and have been ordering them through a distributor since 2003! For a while, I built up a supply, loved some oils and didn’t take the time to fully learn about others. It was an add-on.
Then last year, I bought a kit from a chiropractor who first gave me a sample of the allergy trio lemon, lavender, peppermint, which seemed to help my son. I thought I could stand to learn a lot more about them and integrate them more into my family wellness toolkit.
Soon after, I went to a class led by Lisa Wilson, founder of The Raw Food Institute and a friend from back in the day when she lived here in DC and was just starting to teach cooking classes as a health coach. She’s a pretty terrific speaker, and I knew there was an oil from her line that I loved and wanted to buy again. So I joined up.
Lisa’s local connection, Christi Flynn, a friend of mine from Holistic Moms, had her third baby within a few weeks of that class, so between her recovery and the fact that things take me forever to get to, especially during summer, it was a while before I really got on board. Last month, I finally hosted a class for the first time. Christi rocked the house. My friends and I all learned a ton, and I got even more excited to pursue oils as part of my healing regimen.
While I’m not dropping everything to be a distributor, I am excited to help spread the word and to earn back credits toward products while doing so. The company I’m working with has lots of give-back benefits that make it kind of a no-brainer to work with them. I feel good about their business practices and especially good about the way the oils work for me.
Yes, I am still focused on trying to build a business with my website, Mindful Healthy Life. I am working hard to finish my novel and want to continue to pursue other writing, editing and consulting. I will remain active in my school district’s School Health Advisory Board, where I co-chair at least one subcommittee and am sort of co-chairing a second. My kids’ school will continue to get some volunteer hours out of me, too. For another month, I’m still an active chapter leader of Holistic Moms Network and am working on putting measures in place to transition out of leadership after I present at the July meeting of the Arlington/Alexandria chapter that I started planning to launch eight years ago. There is plenty to keep me busy!
So no, I won’t devote myself full-time to selling oils, but I am excited to add this business piece to my life and to help other people find ways to use oils for their family’s health and wellness.
The more we can get to basics with our food and medicine – and to food as medicine – the more resilient we will be.
And goodness knows, I understand the need for resilience!
I’m still learning just how I can share this information with my readers and be all in compliance and whatnot. I don’t yet have a fancy lead page or a mailing list or anything. I will update this post and write a new one when I do!
What I can say now is that I’m happy to talk with you about oils if you’re interested, I can set you up with an account if you want to pursue them, and that if you already know you want to buy something, email me at clairejess (at) gmail (dot) com and I’ll get you started!
