If holistic health is a passion of yours, check out my coverage of this past weekend’s Take Back Your Health conference in Washington, DC.
At my Washington Times Communities Family Today column, I profile conference organizer Robin Shirley. Robin had to end her college career early because she was so ill. After diet and lifestyle changes made such a difference for her, she became a holistic health counselor and went on to organize this fabulous conference at the tender age of 23! Read more about her and her vision in my article.
At TheDCMoms.com, I’ve got a summary of some of the main points of most of the presentations.
I’m looking forward to writing a longer post here soon about Dr. John Douillard‘s presentation on Ayurveda. Since a recent Fall Cleanse conference call with my sister-in-law, Anusara yoga teacher Charlotte Clews, I’ve been more conscious to limit my eating to three meals and no eating after 7 p.m. and a few other Ayurveda-inspired techniques for optimal health in the Fall. It was inspiring to hear those ideas reinforced and to learn more from Dr. Douillard, who gave a great overview of much of the information in his book, Perfect Health for Kids: 10 Ayurvedic Health Secrets Every Parent Must Know (a book I bought on Charlotte’s recommendation). Tonight, Charlotte begins a tw0-week phone/internet Fall cleanse. For details on this very affordable and cool-sounding program, check out her website at WildOpenHeart.com. If you register, tell her Jessica sent you!
And check back here for a giveaway of a signed copy of Dr. Douillard’s book after I write about his presentation! Subscribe to my feed and Like my page on Facebook so you don’t miss it!
