“Did we make these pancakes this morning?” my son asked a bit ago, at the table of my sister in the Midwest, far from where he woke — an hour earlier than usual — this morning.
It’s been a long day, filled with travel, seeing people we rarely see, and stressing over lost items, namely my wallet.
I’m skipping Apples to Apples to write this post, and I can’t get into my Yahoo email to load any photos from my phone because apparently I’ve forgotten my password. What is next? This from a woman who finally, after months of brain fog, has just started to feel like she’s not actually losing her mind.
The miracle of multiple email addresses and smartphones that forward photos, the challenge of not knowing how to size photos on someone else’s computer. Will I regret not bringing mine? After the lost wallet, this feels safer!
Journey
Small steps,
carefully taken,
yield discoveries
that hide
under grand leaps
But pace alone
does not prove wisdom
for falls can come
also from ambivalence

After casting aside my poetry hat for far too long, my NaBloPoMo plan is to write a poem — and to take and post a photo — every day in November, spending less than half an hour on both. The hope is to drill down, to focus, to look for and create beauty.
