Last hurrah: farm trip

Despite the fact that a drive to Michigan resulted (I think) in the first swelling I’ve seen this pregnancy, I am headed with my little boy now to Polyface Farms, some three hours away. I’ve been looking forward to having him see a real sustainable farm in action for months, especially now that he’s watched the farm’s video describing what it does and how. And I figure it’s our last shot for something like this for a while.

The weather has broken and my kid actually asked to close the windows because he’s cold! So I won’t have near 100-degree heat to contend with, but I do have tight wrists and fingers and toes that might be cousins to the sausages we will buy tomorrow before we head back home.

I wish I didn’t have such heavy feet or that I could have scheduled a massage for earlier this week (sure helped on the trip), but I’m glad I still — at 35 weeks — think I should at least be able to make the drive, have dinner and a night at a hotel with my boy, and enjoy the tour tomorrow morning.
