I may have had to pay someone to help me plant my garden, but the good news is that it actually happened, and things are growing. Maybe a little late, but they’re growing.
Sometimes you have to throw out “perfect” for “done.”
That doesn’t mean I’m doing the greatest job weeding or tending things, but I’m trying to celebrate baby steps. My son knows what he planted in the rain with the worker from Love & Carrots while I took his tired little sister inside. Progress is progress.
And she’s excited enough about the pea shoot to want to take photos of it all, just like her mama. Let’s hope she actually eat some of the bounty when it arrives in a few weeks.
My last post here was was pretty whiny, but, as I wrote yesterday on my new site, I was blessed with an email that led me to a more optimistic place. Elizabeth Shoop of Holistic Intuition wrote me about an audio talk she found useful. It was a Healing with the Masters talk with Carol Look, a practitioner who does Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). When I finally listened to the talk, which discussed causes for self-sabotage, it really helped to transform my outlook on things.
Since then, I’ve been eating lighter and doing some walking, yoga and tai chi, which has helped, though I know that in order to keep moving in a positive direction, I also need to listen to the whole thing again, do more tapping, get to bed by 10 p.m., and schedule time to sit and breathe in silence every day.
When I’m trying to get grounded and stay grounded, I think often of wisdom I’ve gained through the books of Katrina Kenison and through the interview I did with her early last year. Today on Mindful Healthy Life, I put up a giveaway of her books Mitten Strings for God: Reflections for Mothers in a Hurry about being present with young children and The Gift of an Ordinary Day: A Mother’s Memoir about change and growth in the years before her sons left home.
I combined this giveaway with a piece that shares real thoughts about Mother’s Day from some local moms who have much wisdom to share, as well. We all have our struggles, and I appreciate these moms sharing their joys and frustrations so honestly with me!
Please check it out and share!
